On Demand Everything

The idea that Scott Andrew have would make people even lazier and widely dependent.

The author stated about having an “everything demand” rolled into one. For example, a website that can cater not only to printing and photo needs but also for other necessities that may be in line or not in any way connected to it.

Hmm…having to do things separately is making people too tired or not bothering to do them in the first place. So why not have someone or something that can cater to all these needs. Like getting all that you needed in just one site or company.

The article reminded me so much of a mechanical robot that people can input commands or functions that can be turned when the time has come for them to be of use.

Like I said, technology will only make people more lazy and dependent. Did I mention stupid and fat already. Ok, that too.

Imagine having everything in just one click? Too scary, if you ask me. Besides, these things will end up redundant and typical in the long run.

Delivery cost scenario

Picture this. You are choosing a printer for a book you have designed. You live on the East Coast. A printer to which you have been referred is based in the Midwest. Their prices are far below those of your local vendors. You are about ready to award them the job. Wait. Have you discussed packaging? Freight charges? Postage?
Most printers will include in their bid the cost of a local delivery of the finished publication as well as a local delivery and pick-up of proofs. A destination beyond the immediate vicinity may cost you more, and a split delivery may also cost extra.
Also, ask whether you can benefit from the discounts your printer receives for volume shipping. In addition, be specific about how your company will receive the delivery. Do you have a loading dock, or will the printer or carrier need to make an inside delivery (the tenth floor, for instance)? If your building has no loading dock, is there a freight elevator?
The more specific you can be in all these areas, the more closely your printer's estimate will match the final bill.

The thing about low price and quality…

With the availability and affordability of the most sophisticated cameras and photo printers everywhere, one question remains. Why aren’t camera companies making money?
D-SLR’s that were once the most expensive equipment in the market has already dropped their prices while offering the best quality prints and easy usage. a most delightful advantage to the photo enthusiasts out there. Camera manufacturers have also followed the trend and have gone across the board in reducing their price. Not to mention offering super zooms to make them more attractive.
You see, it’s a bit like a domino effect with one paving the way to pushing prices down in every other category. But why aren’t they still adding to that pot of gold?
The answer? The not-so-famous part of the market, in retaliation, became flooded with incredibly cheap cameras ranging from $150 or less. Although they do not have the quality of those at the top, they win hands down in being too available. All thanks to Walmart, Best Buy, etc.

Do not expect for low price and quality to win when there are lower prices still…

Texts matters

In catalogs as well as other forms of printing, texts are of great importance. Although graphics and photos can add some color and liveliness into them, everything will boil down to the words written. Take note that the words are the first things that people see in a printer material. Ok, so maybe some go for pictures first. But then they will eventually go back to the texts afterwards.

How do you make your texts work? Try minimizing punctuations. Commas, semicolons, periods and other sort of punctuation. You may think you are making more emphasis by using them, maybe you are. Then again, it gets too tiring to read them in the long run.

Try to use text justification commands to align text rather than using the tab keys or space bar to attain this purpose. Most of the time, the alignment you see on the computer may not appear the same way in print.

Also, place the most important text at the top and in the brightest color. Arrange them in the pattern related to how people read; left to right, top to bottom.

Some experts like U Printing: Catalog Printing may even have some ways on how to make printing result the way you want it. It all depends on how you go about it or with the help of the pros.

HP still leading in quality and price

Photo printing has become a must nowadays. Of course you would want to print your pictures without having had to use up all the ink in the process. And you cannot possibly want to print your nice photos in black and white now, do you?

Ok, so digital cameras can also be seen everywhere. But then this also doesn’t solve getting the pictures printed in photo quality. The biggest drawback to these digital cameras.

The came color LaserJet printers.

When it comes to color laserjet printers, nothing can beat the quality and precision that Hewlett-Packard has become known for. This is based on my opinion. Take a look at printing companies, like U Printing Color Printing Company, chances are they have one with that HP signature in one of their printers. My point exactly…

The color LaserJet they produce are actually award-winning and has been noted in some of the best magazines. Talk about prestige. Then again, this is just me and my opinion. What’s yours?

All-In-One-Printers

If people are torn between using a printer or photocopier, I think the perfect solution have already been invented to erase all these worries and debates because of All-In-One-Printers. From the name itself, you would have an idea what all this is about. Or do you?
All-In-One-Printers or Multifunction printers combines the features of more than one device into a single package. Basically, a printer (can be inkjet or laser), scanner and a copier. Many of these devices even have the capability of sending and receiving faxes. Very useful for home and offices.
For printing companies like U Printing:Los Angeles Printing Company, this is another advantage. Having one machine to do all sort of work needed sure is better than having to change machines to attain a certain function.
Less space occupied and more room for other things and for moving around too. This is the less known advantage of All-In-One-Printers over the others. If you have not heard about these printers yet, you may be way behind technology and space consumption.

So much for being creative

I think there is this thing called “trying so hard to be creative but without a single creative bone in the body”.

Admit it, there are people out there doing the best they can to try and come up with an original creation, but ended up with nothing.

Not to mention the fact that, everything and anything has already been thought of and has been put into print. So upon thinking of a great design or words, do not just start doing it right away. Go online and check if they have that one done already.

Sometimes creativity comes from an inspiration that a person has encountered once in life. The tendency is to make a recreation of that something that made quite an impact on you. Not knowing that you are ending up not-so-creative, after all.

What I am saying is that, thinking of new printing design and technique have become twice as difficult. There are already too many out there.

Besides, if you did think of something new, chances are, it will be stolen or copied from you, the minute someone laid eyes on it.

At least Rick Hendershot does not appear lacking in any.

Going back to old art?

One thing I noticed about the show is that different kinds of arts are portrayed every time. From the old-fashioned art making to the more modern kind.

Varieties in art are not something people see much nowadays. Usually art seem almost the same, maybe because of the way they were done. Or more like, the way modern technologies did them.

This brings us to a debatable issue. Are the people going back to the old art?

Ok, old art may seem too old for the generation now. Not the “in” thing. Think of it this way, when you see the art works now, don’t you just feel like seeing something different and refreshing for a change?

Although art today can be creative and unique, it sometimes lack a certain factor that is very hard to point out. I think it’s the quality, or the valuable aspect that takes time and sweat too.

Modern technology has many advantages, we all know that. But there are many things missing in it. Try to see it from my perspective and you will get an idea what it is I’m trying to say…
